Ashiatsu
In Japanese, ashi means foot, and atsu means pressure; so it literally translates to foot pressure. It is a barefoot massage technique in which I’m using my feet and body weight. rather than my hands or arms. This allows me to deliver deep compression, broad, and even pressure with long gliding strokes -if I’m using body lotion-, but you may stay fully clothed the entire session, then it’s similar to a Thai massage. It involves assisted stretching too.
Ashiatsu is performed on a mattress on the floor. Most of the massage you lie face down, with a little bit of time spent face up. I leave out the soft and sensitive bodyparts.
This treatment is wonderful for those suffering from stress and tension in between the shoulder blades, and upper body discomfort.
